
On Monday evening, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Seattle's South Park neighborhood. At approximately 5:41 p.m., police responded to a collision at the intersection of 14th Avenue South and South Henderson Street. According to SPD Blotter, a 56-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle.
The Seattle Fire Department, along with police, quickly arrived on the scene to assist the injured woman. Arriving at the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the woman was immediately subjected to life-saving efforts at Harborview Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased. During the investigation, officers temporarily closed off the involved intersection.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old male, remained at the scene after the incident. He cooperated with the authorities as they conducted their investigation. It was determined that as the driver made a left turn, he collided with the victim who was in the crosswalk. Following an evaluation at the scene, the driver showed no signs of impairment and has not been arrested at this time, as reported by the SPD Blotter.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the tragic accident, working to understand the actions preceding the collision. While efforts to reconstruct the scene were underway, patrol officers ensured the safety of the surrounding area by cordoning it off.
