
In a quick response by local law enforcement, a suspect was arrested and a stolen firearm was recovered in Van Buren County. WOODTV reported that deputies were called to a theft around 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday in Geneva Township, where a .45 caliber Springfield handgun was reported missing. Using video surveillance, authorities were able to identify a suspect.
The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at a home on the 65000 block of CR 376 in Bangor Township around 12:30 p.m. They found a handgun and the suspected individual, who was reportedly cooperative with the investigation, according to ABC 57.
The suspect faces charges of larceny, carrying a concealed weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Wanted on two warrants, the suspect was tracked using surveillance footage, leading to a search that stopped a stolen handgun from being used in future crimes, as stated by FOX 17 News.
