Authorities in West Bridgewater have arrested a 28-year-old Raynham man on multiple charges following a hit-and-run incident that left a motorcycle passenger seriously injured. Zachary Adomaitis faces charges including possession of a Class B drug, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, among other violations. The arrest followed a motor vehicle crash last Friday at the intersection of North Main and Matfield streets.
According to the West Bridgewater Police Department's report, a motorcycle was seen operating erratically and colliding with a truck after passing other vehicles on North Main Street. The motorcycle operator fled the scene immediately after the crash and could not be found initially. A passenger on the motorcycle was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.
The investigation was spearheaded by Sgt. Todd Cantalupo and officers Gerard Julien-Suarez, Christopher Huyghe, and Stefano D’Emilia. With expediency born of necessity, the suspect was later identified as Adomaitis. On Sunday, through efforts pointed and determined, Officer D’Emilia arrested the suspect, who also had an outstanding warrant from Brockton District Court.
During his arrest, Adomaitis was found to be in possession of cocaine. At his arraignment yesterday in Brockton District Court, he was held without bail. While these allegations are serious, it is important to remember that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
