Starting at the intersection of Edgar and Garden Roads, road work is set to encroach upon the daily commute for many in Webster Groves. In an announcement made by the city, construction will extend down Garden and loop back via the eastbound lane of Edgar. As workers and machines take over, residents can expect to see flaggers directing traffic alongside a new temporary signal.
With considerations for the local academic schedule, the City of Webster Groves is timing this disruption to coincide with Webster University's holiday break, perhaps, to disturb fewer students and faculty. "The majority of the work is scheduled during Webster University's holiday break," reports the city's official announcement. Meanwhile, the signal at Edgar and Garden will be blinking during working hours, before shifting back to its regular pattern after the sun dips below the horizon.
Those accustomed to a quick throughway should allow for extra travel time or consider, alternative routes. Officials have yet to give a precise end date for the project.
For pedestrians and drivers alike, maneuvering through or around the construction zone will require caution and patience. Signage and directions from the temporary signal aim to guide the traffic flow safely around the work site.
