The Rock Hill community faces a grim update as local police reclassify the death of Lisa Rosenzweig, 53, to a homicide investigation, following the revelation of her tragic demise in her own home. Last month, a welfare check prompted by concerns for her well-being ended in the discovery of her body, an event that has since rippled concern across the neighborhood and now, a suspect has been arrested in connection to her death. QC News reported that officers initially struggled to enter her residence on Cauthen Street, until a contractor who was working on the property provided access.
The detailed examination of the scene by the Coroner's Office, Crime Unit, and Forensics led to the conclusion that Rosenzweig had been struck in the head with an unidentified object, resulting in her death. WSOCTV disclosed that this assessment prompted detectives to issue a murder warrant against 39-year-old Anthony Lopez, who was identified as a suspect.
In a new development today, Lopez was apprehended by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Now awaiting extradition, the suspect remains in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail in Charlotte. The police have confirmed that Lopez had a familial relationship with Rosenzweig, yet the nature of that relationship has not been explicitly detailed. According to WCNC, authorities took the suspect into custody today, marking nearly a full month since the initial crime scene was uncovered.
The investigation into the homicide of Rosenzweig by the Rock Hill Police remains ongoing, with further details anticipated to be released as they become available and justice pursued for the victim and her bereaved family.
