A 19-year-old man from Saginaw, identified as Alejandro Ayala, faces serious charges after Michigan State Police arrested him for aggravated possession of child porn. The arrest comes as part of a larger effort spearheaded by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, to combat online child exploitation.
The investigation into Ayala began after authorities became aware he was viewing child sexually abusive material online, as reported by WNEM. Digital evidence was subsequently seized from Ayala's house, leading to his arrest, and during his arraignment on Tuesday, he was charged with five counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material.
In their online statement, MSP Third District emphasized the urgency and importance of parent-child discussions regarding the safe use of the internet. "The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet," the statement, published on MSP Third District's social media, reads. The department also pointed towards resources provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the MSP ICAC Task Force, available to assist in protecting children in the digital world.
