A San Antonio man has been handed a sentence of nearly three decades behind bars for his role in a series of violent pharmacy robberies. Atseko Factor, aged 40, received a sentence of 339 months in federal prison on counts that included robbery and brandishing a firearm during the crime, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas.
The court documents showed that Factor, along with his accomplice Andre Dupree Jack, 41, held up three pharmacies, terrorizing employees by pointing firearms at them, binding them with zip ties, and making off with a significant haul. The thefts included more than $43,000 in controlled substances as well as cash and other pharmaceuticals, occurring between October and December of the year 2020. With a firearm pointed at the employees during the heists, the impact extends far beyond the losses in dollars.
In his plea, Factor admitted guilt to the charges on September 10, and the court further ordered him to pay around $47,000 in restitution. Following the narrative of justice, his co-defendant Jack also entered a guilty plea to related charges on March 21, facing sentencing in January of the following year.
This case was not a simple matter of law enforcement; it was a combined effort where the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives played their parts as well, alongside local police departments from Pleasanton, Seguin, and Luling. Aided by assistant U.S. Attorneys Brian Nowinski and John Fedock, who prosecuted the case, they cast a wide net to bring these criminals to book, U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza for the Western District of Texas made the announcement.
