A parking enforcement officer was injured in a hit-and-run incident by a man driving a white Ford Van in Santa Rosa. The event occurred yesterday in city-owned "Lot 4" at midday when the officer was issuing a citation to the improperly parked vehicle, according to a statement released by the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Following the altercation, at roughly 1:15 pm, the van driver reportedly returned to the scene and became confrontational upon discovering the citation. Ignoring the officer's presence, he attempted to drive away, colliding with the officer. The injured officer subsequently called for medical help, which the Police Department highlighted. Officers surveying the situation launched an immediate search for the assailant, who was later identified as Vincent Kimber, a 35-year-old from Oregon, following the issuance of a "Be on the Lookout" alert that led to his arrest at a Rohnert Park Home Depot.
Evidence and identification from surveillance and witness accounts facilitated Kimber's apprehension. A license plate provided by the victim, who described the assailant as a white male in his forties wearing a hat and a dog accompanying him, led to a positive ID by both the victim and an independent witness.
Medical personnel treated the victim for minor injuries, who was later released from the hospital, as outlined by the Santa Rosa Police Department's social media update. With Kimber now booked at the Sonoma County Jail, the incident remains open for any additional insights from the public. Officer Ian Benner has been designated as the point of contact for forthcoming tips.
