Seattle residents can expect a blend of clouds and sun today, with the temperature reaching a high near 52 degrees, as the gentle breeze shifts from south to northeast later in the afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle has indicated in its latest update that the humidity sits high at 87%, with visibility stretching to 9 miles. For those stepping outside, the wind chill might make it feel slightly cooler at around 43 degrees Fahrenheit.
The evening, however, is set to bring rain with a 90% chance of precipitation, as the temperatures hold steady around 49 degrees. The NWS forecast suggests that gusts could reach up to 25 mph in some areas, bringing with them between a quarter and half an inch of new rainfall. As the east southeast wind picks up speed between 8 to 11 mph, Seattleites should prepare for a damp evening.
Looking further ahead, the NWS advises that tomorrow will likely continue to see rain showers, particularly after 10 am, with an overcast sky and a high around 50 degrees. The south wind will persist, occasionally reaching gusts as high as 22 mph, while the probability of rain remains at 70%. Though, new precipitation amounts are predicted to be modest, less than a tenth of an inch.
By Christmas Day, the rain shows no sign of abating; a 90% chance ensures a wet holiday with new rainfall possibly accumulating between a quarter and half an inch. According to the NWS, the tempest with gusts as vigorous as 23 mph from the south, will not relent until the end of the week, with high temperatures hovering near the 50-degree mark and nightly lows sinking to the mid-40s. Seattle's long-standing relationship with precipitation seems only to grow stronger as winter progresses.
