The holiday spirit in Seattle may be dampened by the incessant rain that's predicted to shower the city, according to the latest weather forecasts. As families gathered to celebrate Christmas, they found themselves facing a 100% chance of precipitation with new rain amounts of a quarter to half an inch possible. The National Weather Service reported that after 8:00 A.M. on Christmas Day, the rain began with near certainty, and temperatures reached a high near 47 degrees, accompanied by a south wind blowing at 9 to 16 mph, and gusts that could surge as high as 22 mph.
The rain is set to continue throughout the night, with the southeast winds expected to persistently blow at 10 to 16 mph, gusting up to 23 mph at times. These conditions aim to bring another three-quarters to one inch of new rainfall. The rain continues through Thursday, maintaining steady temperatures around 49 degrees. The National Weather Service's prediction doesn't ease up for Thursday night with lows predicted around 44 degrees and east-southeast winds of about 14 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. The detailed forecast asserts that another quarter to half an inch of rain may drench the city on Thursday night.
Looking ahead to Friday, a high near 50 degrees awaits Seattleites, but so does the rain, with a 90% chance of precipitation. South winds could again thrust at a pace up to 15 mph, rousing gusts that may approach 20 mph. And it doesn't get any drier for Friday night as the forecast holds a steady 100% chance of more rain with temperatures lingering around 46 degrees.
The soggy conditions seem to slightly ease over the weekend, yet the rain is an eyesore to continue playing a predominant role in Seattle's weather narrative. The National Weather Service outlines an 80% chance of rain for Saturday during the day, decreasing somewhat at night, but forecasted to pick up again after 10:00 P.M. Sunday doesn't fare much better with an overcast and rainy outlook. Rolling into the next week, Monday and Tuesday harbor a likelihood of rain.
