A dispute over a parking space in Southwest escalated into a gun-pointing incident, leading to the arrest of a Silver Spring man. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the confrontation took place on the 900 block of Maine Avenue, Southwest, around lunchtime yesterday.

It all started when the victim finished parking his vehicle and was confronted by the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Nathan Cinada. The victim alleged that Cinada, desiring to also park in that space, proceeded to roll down his car window and menacingly point a handgun at him. The distraught victim alerted the authorities of the assault after the harrowing encounter.

First District officers swiftly responded to the scene and were able to locate Cinada's vehicle parked nearby. Police leveraged CCTV footage to trace Cinada to a nearby restaurant, where he was found and apprehended without further incident. A search led to the recovery of a firearm, supposedly involved in the assault.

Cinada is now facing a slew of charges which, according to the MPD, include Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. An on-scene investigation was crucial to quickly be able to escalate the confrontation to an arrest, the MPD noted in their briefing.
