Chaos erupted at a Murrieta shopping center last week when police responded to reports of a large fight involving juveniles. The brawl at the Ralphs shopping center parking lot was reported around 3:54 p.m. on December 12, according to a press release from the Murrieta Police Department. Officers on the scene discovered the altercation had ended, and the juvenile suspects had fled, leaving behind one minor with injuries stemming from the fracas.
Surveillance footage and witness interviews helped identify six teens and one adult as alleged attackers. The Murrieta Police Department relayed on Monday that the six teenagers were subsequently arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, as detailed by Patch. Still, at large, the adult's identity is being withheld by authorities until an arrest can be made. While the motives behind the attack remain unclear, the severity of the assault led to a case being opened under California Penal Code section 245(a)(1).
The injured boy, found on the scene by the officers, had sustained multiple non-life-threatening injuries and is still in the process of recovery, as per CBS News. All suspects were located and apprehended by December 16, and have been booked into Riverside County Southwest Juvenile Hall.
