Police are on the lookout for a suspect involved in a violent altercation last month in downtown. Fourth District Detectives have released a photo of the vehicle associated with a cutting incident that occurred in Schiller Park, at the intersection of 14th & Market Streets, around 11:45 a.m. on November 29. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department disclosed this information in an effort to solicit the public's assistance in tracking down both the individual and the vehicle involved.
The suspect, reportedly a black male, is accused of cutting a 42-year-old man on his back with a knife during what escalated into a physical confrontation. Witnesses described the suspect as dressed in red jogging pants, a white shirt, and a black jacket with an emblem on one of the sleeves. Following the altercation, the suspect was seen entering a black Saturn Vue and fleeing from the scene, making him a person of interest in this active investigation.
Considered armed and dangerous, authorities are cautioning the public not to approach the suspect, instead urging anyone with information to step forward. A photograph of the suspect vehicle has been released to aid in identification. Individuals with knowledge of the incident or suspect's whereabouts can provide anonymous tips through CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477). Alternatively, they may reach out directly to a detective working the case at 314-444-2500.
There’s an incentive for those whose tips lead to an arrest: a possible cash reward, pending the information's direct contribution to such an outcome. It's a measure that underscores the severity with which this case is being treated; as public safety hangs in the balance, the shared responsibility between law enforcement and community feels all the more acute.
