
Early yesterday morning, a 37-year-old man from St. Clair Shores was arrested in Calhoun County after he assaulted several people who offered help following a crash and for committing an armed robbery, according to deputies. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on I-69 near the I-94 interchange in Marshall Township, as reported by WOODTV, finding the man intoxicated and uncooperative.
The suspect had reportedly been involved in an armed robbery in Galesburg, Kalamazoo County, before the altercation, and upon investigation, law enforcement discovered stolen property and a weapon in the man's vehicle, items which were turned over to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, deputies found stolen property and a weapon used in the robbery in the suspect's vehicle deputies told sources at CBS News Detroit.
After the crash, multiple good Samaritans who approached the man were assaulted, sustaining injuries not considered to be life-threatening, as MLive described, when they attempted to offer their assistance, the suspect became aggressive and began to attack them.
The situation escalated when the man resisted arrest and later went on to assault hospital staff while being treated for his injuries, the sheriff’s office said he assaulted hospital staff while receiving treatment for injuries. This resulted in him being held at the Calhoun County Jail on multiple felony charges, with law enforcement seeking assistance from the public for more information on the incident.
