Authorities reported an arrest in the case of an assault that occurred in Southeast D.C. on the morning of November 27, 2024. The victim was attacked after confronting an individual suspected of vandalizing a vehicle on the 1200 block of Half Street, Southeast. During the altercation, the victim was struck in the head, lost consciousness, and was robbed of their phone before the assailant fled the scene. The victim was later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as detailed by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.
Two days after the assault, last Friday, authorities apprehended 29-year-old Craig Hunter, a man of no fixed address. Hunter was subsequently charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Screwdriver) and Theft Two, the Metro Police said in a statement. The circumstances of the arrest haven't been fully disclosed. Still, it was noted that the Metro Transit Police Department played a pivotal role in aiding the investigation and eventual apprehension of the suspect.
