
The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the apprehension of a suspect linked to a recent armed carjacking that occurred on Bellevue Street in Southeast DC. According to a release, on the night of September 30, 2024, officers from the Seventh District were called to the 900 block of Bellevue Street following reports of the crime. The victim, who has not been identified, endured a physical altercation and was also shot at by the assailant. However, they managed to escape injury from the gunfire and were subsequently attended to by DC Fire and EMS for non-critical injuries related to the assault.
Detectives investigating the case secured a custody order from the DC Superior Court, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old female from Southeast, DC. Charged with Armed Carjacking, the juvenile's involvement adds another layer to the city’s ongoing discussion surrounding youth and violence—an issue that persists as a pulsing concern within the District's communities.
