The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has intensified its efforts to apprehend one of the state's most elusive individuals, elevating Raymond Lee Trejo, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, to the status of Featured Fugitive for December. On the watch for Trejo since May 2024 due to his failure to adhere to sex offender registration protocols, DPS has now upped the reward for information leading to his arrest. Informants who provide tips this month may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds, Trejo's visage is marked by tattoos across his face, neck, chest, and arms, as well as distinguishable scars on his head and right knee, as detailed by the DPS. In 2009, Trejo was handed a 10-year sentence to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison following a conviction for sexual assault of a child, which involved a 14-year-old girl.
Through the support of the Governor's Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers invites individuals to come forward with any knowledge that could potentially lead to an arrest. As part of their initiative, they have successfully orchestrated the capture of 44 individuals listed as Texas' 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, and Criminal Illegal Immigrants; among them, 16 were sex offenders, 4 criminal illegal immigrants, and, wrapped in the arms of justice, 10 gang members.
Tips can be submitted through various channels, including the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), or by navigating the DPS website to the fugitive's profile and launching their web tip portal. Alternatively, a Facebook tip can be sent by clicking the "SUBMIT A TIP" link found within the "About" section. The system maintains the confidentiality of informants by providing them with a tip number instead of using names, ensuring that all tips remain anonymous.
