East Multnomah County travelers should be aware that curb ramp improvements, which started last week, will continue through January. Expect traffic delays due to lane closures on Buxton Road, from S.W. 2nd Avenue to S.W. 8th Avenue in Troutdale, weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flaggers will help direct traffic, according to the Multnomah County website.

In addition to the Troutdale work, improvements are also happening near the northwest entrance to the Sandy River RV Resort on the Historic Columbia River Highway. While both lanes will remain open, there may be brief delays that could slow traffic.

This project is part of Multnomah County Transportation's ADA Transition Plan, which follows the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Act requires public agencies with more than 50 employees to create a plan for improving accessibility. The plan focuses on enhancing accessibility within the county's transportation division along public right-of-ways.

The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners is committing funds to support these accessibility improvements as part of the county's broader goal of promoting equity for all residents. While ramp work has been done alongside other road projects in the past, this is the first project dedicated solely to ramp construction. The work is expected to be completed by January, but delays may occur depending on weather conditions.
