A 56-year-old man died on Christmas Eve following a sequence of collisions on the ramp of a Queens expressway. The incident started when a woman driving a Mercedes-Benz GLS450 hit a barrier on the Clearview Expressway's exit to the westbound Long Island Expressway in Bayside, as per NYPD officials.
Following the initial crash, Arsen Aronov, who was behind the wheel of a Hyundai Sonata, struck the stationary Mercedes. Both Aronov and the female driver of the Mercedes got out of their vehicles to inspect the damages when a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 24-year-old woman, collided into Aronov, according to Audacy.
Emergency Medical Services transported Aronov to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The details surrounding the incident were provided by the NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad which is still investigating the events leading up to Aronov's death. The other drivers involved in the incident remained at the scene after the crash and there have been no immediate arrests reported in connection with the incident.
This fatal accident marks the second such death in a span of a week near that particular location. Last Wednesday, another man, Rajinder Singh aged 65, was also struck and killed by a passing flatbed truck while he was attending to his disabled vehicle. The Daily News reports that Singh was working under the hood when the rear of his vehicle was clipped, sending the car into him and causing fatal injuries.
