Following an intensive investigation by the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office, two men have been arrested in relation to a shooting that targeted Judge Ron Hunter at his Arkansas home on August 23. Timmy Taylor faces charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons and tampering with physical evidence after allegedly being instructed to hide the gun used in the shooting. Charged previously was Christopher Ford, accused of being the shooter, facing serious charges including attempted murder.
In a post shared by the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office, it was revealed that Taylor was apprehended last Friday. Found during the investigation were details that implicated Taylor in conversations about disposing of the weapon. Deputy sheriffs reported that Taylor admitted to hiding the gun after Ford told him to take care of it. Despite the grave nature of the incident, no person was injured, though one of Judge Hunter's mules was shot during the attack, as Action News 5 reported.
Judge Pam Honeycutt set Taylor's bond at $50,000 during a probable cause hearing on December 8, as per the statement from the sheriff’s office. If Taylor is released on bond, he is required to wear an ankle monitor and comply with probation check-ins. Meanwhile, Ford remains in jail with bond set at a steep $5 million, facing multiple charges, including terroristic acts and animal cruelty.
The case took a turn when counterfeit $100 bills were discovered during a search following the shooting. "This arrest underscores our commitment to ensuring public safety and holding individuals accountable for their actions," the sheriff's office stated on social media. Residents with potential leads or information have been urged by officials to contact Detective Devon Stroud directly or through anonymous tips via the Sheriff's Office's app or website, revealed Local Memphis.
The Sheriff's Office response came in swiftly after receiving a call about an unidentified man threatening Judge Hunter. Upon deputies' arrival, the suspect had vanished, but shots were reported fired at the Hunter residence just an hour later. The suspect resumed firing as more deputies responded to the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office's post on Facebook. The efforts to capture the shooter culminated in Ford's arrest the following day.
