Three individuals, including a child, were rescued in a precision operation by the U.S. Coast Guard after their boat became grounded off Camano Island. On Saturday, a Coast Guard aircrew from Port Angeles conducted the rescue mission when it became apparent that the steep terrain surrounding the location was too challenging for local fire departments to navigate. KIRO 7 News reported that the boat went aground next to the difficult landscape, prompting the coast guard intervention.
The rescue unfolded with watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound dispatching the helicopter crew after recognizing that the stranded party, due to the steep terrain, was out of reach for Camano Island Fire & Rescue, detailed in a social media post by USCGPacificNorthwest. The child rescued was first brought to safety.

Once the child was secure, the aircrew returned to hoist the remaining adults. After extraction from the perilous situation, the adults were transported to the airport, where they were then handed over to emergency medical services. KOMO News reported that the condition of the individuals was not immediately clear following their ordeal.
