In a significant drug bust at the Presidio port of entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers apprehended a 47-year-old Mexican citizen with a substantial quantity of methamphetamine hidden in her vehicle. The seizure, which occurred last Saturday, included 68 pounds of the substance, valued at a street level that one wouldn’t dare quantify to the casual observer.

According to the CBP's official release, the discovery was made following a secondary inspection of a 2010 Honda Pilot. Driving the vehicle alone, the woman was stopped just after 11 a.m. as she entered the United States from Mexico. Visible anomalies in the SUV's appearance prompted the officers to conduct a more thorough search. Released from the vehicle, the fuel tank was carefully inspected.

"CBP officers will employ a variety of tools and techniques to identify and stop drug smugglers," said CBP Presidio Port Director Benito Reyes Jr. "This layered enforcement approach allows CBP to quickly separate legitimate trade and travel from those who attempt to violate the laws of our nation." These remarks emphasize the ongoing effort by the authorities to curb the illegal narcotics trade at the border, as reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Officers used a fiber-optic scope to investigate further and found 63 bundles of methamphetamine. The driver was arrested and faced federal charges for the smuggling attempt. She was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations agents to face the legal consequences.
