UCLA's campus was the scene of an unsettling confrontation on Christmas Eve, as a student faced an unexpected act of harassment which has prompted a police investigation for a possible hate crime. The UCLA Police Department is actively seeking information about four suspects who reportedly targeted a student on Weyburn Avenue. The incident, which involved homophobic slurs and the tossing of paper wads, occurred near the UCLA campus around 6 p.m., as reported by ABC7.
The student, while walking westbound, was accosted by the occupants of a black Mercedes-Benz convertible. Although the victim was shaken by the encounter, fortunately, they were not struck by any projectiles during the aggression, NBC Los Angeles shared.
UCLA Police have not given an extensive description of the suspects beyond noting that they are apparently four men in their early 20s, as per ABC7. The offenders remain at large, and the authorities are urging anyone with potentially valuable knowledge to reach out and contact the UCLA Police Department.
