A high-speed pursuit in Vallejo involving a 2019 Nissan Rogue ended in a collision after multiple vehicle code violations were witnessed by Vallejo Police Department (VPD) Patrol Division officers. According to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department, the incident occurred near Fairgrounds Drive and Gateway Drive last Thursday.
The chase began when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver, thinking he would outpace the law, accelerated away. The officers discontinued the pursuit of public safety concerns. However, the driver, not losing his momentum, continued to speed and nearly caused what could have been a head-on collision with a deputy from the Solano County Sheriff's Office. Following this, the driver crashed into two other vehicles that were not involved in the chase.
After detaining the driver and his two passengers, including a juvenile, ambulances transported two injured victims from the collision and the driver to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. A subsequent search of the Nissan Rogue uncovered two loaded, unregistered firearms with extended magazines. The driver, a convicted felon, admitted to owning the guns upon recitation of his Miranda rights.
The juvenile was released to a parent, while the passenger walked away free at the scene. Upon receiving medical clearance, the driver was taken to the Solano County Jail to face charges. The offenses levied against him included child endangerment and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. To conclude the event, his vehicle was towed, and the firearms were entered into evidence.
