As we reach the heart of the holiday season, organizations across the Valley are stepping up to provide festive meals to those in need. ABC15 reports that places like St. Mary's Food Bank have already begun their distribution efforts, doling out meals and toys ahead of Christmas Day. St. Mary's Food Bank began their holiday food giveaways on December 23 at the Phoenix Neighborhood Food Center, on a first-come, first-served basis.

In the spirit of giving, St. Vincent de Paul is preparing to serve thousands of meals this Christmas to ensure no one faces hunger on this festive day. Serving glazed ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, and pie for dessert, the organization has outlined their meal service to take place at various locations throughout the Valley on Dec. 25. The Phoenix Dining Room, as per a statement obtained by ABC15, will transform into a Champions for the Homeless Christmas event complete with NFL players serving food, live music, and additional offerings of clothing and gift certificates.

Meanwhile, The Salvation Army's Christmas Dinner is set to take place at the Phoenix Convention Center South Building, where doors will open at 9:30 a.m. with food service starting from 11:30 a.m. There will also be an outdoor serving area made available for guests with leashed pets, complemented by free haircuts, nail services, family photos with Santa, and more to enrich the community spirit.

Progressing away from the Valley, we see a smaller but significant effort in Ottawa, where a nonprofit known as A Servant’s Heart provided community members with a Christmas dinner of their own. According to a report by Shaw Local News, the organization prepared 38 meals which included seasonal favorites such as turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. A Servant's Heart operates year-round, offering lunch from Monday to Friday, and is currently seeking donations of nonperishable items, butter, and produce to continue its service.
