Waukesha residents can look forward to a seamless transition for their garbage and recycling needs come spring 2025. As the current contract with Waste Management approaches its expiry on March 28, 2025, the City has been proactive in securing a new service provider. According to an announcement from the City of Waukesha official website, Johns Disposal will be the new name in waste management in Waukesha starting March 31, 2025, after a thorough RFP process that highlighted their competitive edge in pricing and qualifications.
One notable change is that the City will be issuing new city-owned carts for both garbage and recycling to eligible households. Waste Management is tasked with the removal of the old carts beginning March 24, 2025, a process expected to span over several weeks. Residents won't have to worry about disruptions, though. You'll still roll your bins out for weekly trash and biweekly recycling pickups, as usual.
Delivery of the new carts is set to kick off at the end of February, ensuring everything is in place before the handover. In a detail that could easily slip past unassuming homeowners, the City has set a standard cart size, but is also giving the option to request alternatives. If the ubiquitous 64-gallon garbage or 96-gallon recycling carts don't fit your needs, you have until December 30 to make this known. The City is accommodating these requests through an online form that residents can fill out.
For those firmly set in their routines, no action is required to receive the standard size carts. More information about this transition, including how to request an alternative cart size, can be found on the City of Waukesha's official website, which hosted the announcement of these upcoming changes.
