Westbrook police announced an arrest in connection to a homicide from two weeks ago, shedding more light on the dark event that shook the small community in Maine. NBC Boston reported that on November 21, at 11:35 p.m., 47-year-old James Fowler was arrested and charged with the murder of his roommate, 59-year-old Robert Seger, after what seemed to be an argument gone fatally wrong. Responding to a medical emergency call at their residence, 34 Lamb St., authorities discovered Seger unresponsive.

While attempting life-saving measures, the first responders were hindered by multiple blunt force injuries that Seger had suffered. Taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, the man later succumbed to his injuries. The News Center Maine noted that an autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner's office concluded the manner of death was homicide due to blunt force trauma injuries.

Fowler, who had called 911 to report his roommate's dire condition, told police about the altercation but claimed to have left before returning to the scene. It was only through their dedicated investigation that the Westbrook Police, with help from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South, pieced together the events that led up to the gruesome discovery and subsequent charges. Fowler now faces what has been classified as depraved indifference murder.

Officials processed the scene at the Lamb Street address, leading to Fowler's arrest at the residence where the incident occurred, according to NBC Boston. Fowler, charged with murder, was taken into custody around 7:35 p.m. yesterday and transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
