Following a string of investigative efforts, Wilmington Police have apprehended an 18-year-old in relation to a May shooting that left two young men wounded, one critically. On the night of May 8, officers were called to the 700 block of Maryland Avenue after gunshots disrupted the area's precarious peace. They found a 23-year-old who had to be rushed to the hospital in critical condition, alongside a 22-year-old in stable condition, as reported by a local announcement.
The investigation was spearheaded by Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division, who was able to track down and identify Amir Miller as a suspect in a shooting incident. The meticulous police work led to the issuance of warrants for Miller's arrest. It wasn't until November 29 that Miller was taken into custody without the incident by members of the Uniformed Services Division.
Miller now faces serious charges including two counts of first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He's also been accused of criminal mischief with damages under $1,000. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Miller has been held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with the bail set at a staunch $120,000 cash-only demand.
