The Wilmington Police Department has issued a plea to the public to aid in the search for a young man who has been missing since late October. Twenty-year-old Ryan Secord was last seen on October 28 around 3 p.m. on the 100 block of North Poplar Street, according to the Wilmington Police Department report. Described as a white male, standing 5’7” tall, weighing about 200 lbs, and with brown hair, Ryan's absence was officially reported on November 23.
Concern mounts as the days grow colder and the nights longer, with no trace of the missing individual. Wilmington Police have taken to social media, disseminating Ryan's description and requesting that anyone with information on his current location contact them at 302-654-5151. The request from authorities reminds us of our collective responsibility toward the vulnerable and the lost.
In a brief statement, a representative for the Wilmington Police Department expressed the urgency of community involvement: We "are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ryan Secord to please contact the Wilmington Police Department" immediately. The message underscores an all-hands-on-deck approach to finding the missing 20-year-old.
