Early Wednesday morning in South Los Angeles, a call to police about supposed gunshots resulted in the discovery of an entirely different scene involving a vehicular assault. Officers who arrived on Bandera Street found a woman trapped in her car after being repeatedly rammed by a truck, according to CBS News Los Angeles. The truck driver had already fled the scene on foot by the time police arrived at approximately 4:40 A.M.
Further clarity on the incident was provided by surveillance footage obtained by KTLA, showing the truck pushing the woman's smaller vehicle into several parked cars along the road. Authorities have revealed that the injured woman was taken to a local hospital, suffering from a broken leg among possibly other injuries. However, police have not yet established a clear motive for the alarmingly violent altercation.
Adding to the narrative, ABC7 included an interview with a neighborhood resident, Adrian Carrillo, who described the precursory events leading to the destruction: "I guess they got into an argument," he said. "He shot a gun up in the air, climbs into his truck. She's trying to back out, so the car and the truck are head-to-head. And he just stepped on it and pushed her from way down there to here, to this spot." This account, although detailed, adds intricacies to the narrative that have yet to be fully unpicked by investigators.
The woman remained in the hospital as of Wednesday morning, her family disclosed to ABC7, with surgeries required to address her injuries. As for the man behind the wheel of the truck, police are actively seeking his whereabouts. As of now, his identity remains undisclosed, encouraging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward to piece together this event laid out on the streets of South Los Angeles.
