Akron police have apprehended a 14-year-old boy in connection with the armed robbery of a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. last Friday on the 60 block of Brighton Drive. The 21-year-old victim reported he was accosted by three males, one brandishing what appeared to be a handgun, before they made off with pizza, a key fob, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Cleveland19 News details that officers followed footprints in the snow from the scene to a nearby house, resulting in the teen's arrest.
Investigators surrounded the home on the 40 block of East Emerling Avenue and, with a search warrant, entered to find a dismantled airsoft pistol and pizza boxes, per FOX8. The adolescent suspect has since confessed to participating in the felony. Charged with aggravated robbery, the young suspect was taken to a Summit County juvenile detention facility. Authorities are still on the lookout for at least two other suspects believed to be teenagers involved in the robbery.
Notably, Mother Nature cracked the case in part, as footprints visible in the freshly fallen snow led officers directly to where the suspect was hiding. This detail was highlighted by the Akron Beacon Journal, emphasizing the environment's role in the quick resolution of the case. The authorities have encouraged anyone with information to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
Community members with potential leads or knowledge of the incident are urged to contact Akron detectives at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2TIP (330-375-2847).
