The Aloha United Way (AUW) held its Nonprofit Resource Fair at the Windward Mall center court, drawing in hundreds of participants interested in the variety of support services offered by local organizations. Visitors were met with more than just informational booths as the event showcased the wide range of AUW’s partner agencies, which cater to veterans, families, kupuna, and even the needs of animals through organizations like Catholic Charities and the Hawaiian Humane Society.
AUW's Vice President of Resource Development, Emmaly Calibraro, highlighted the fair’s significance, "We're here with over 25 different Aloha United Way partner agencies sharing information and resources with all of our community to help make us stronger and more resilient," she said, in a statement obtained by KITV. In addition to brochures, free giveaways like lanyards, stickers, and children’s books were handed out. Family-friendly activities featured a paper-making lei craft for the keiki, along with a musical instrument showcase by Sounding Joy Music Therapy.
This year’s fair marks AUW's first event of 2025 and also serves to highlight nearly 260 partner agencies, all of which undergo a thorough annual vetting process. These agencies are potential recipients of donations from AUW’s thousands of supporters. Events like this not only offer direct support and information to the community but also help educate prospective donors about where their contributions can make the most impact.
Further information about AUW’s partner agencies and the programs they offer can be found on AUW’s website. The AUW Resource Fair serves as a connection point for the community, linking those in need with those providing assistance, as noted in AUW’s Instagram post, "Join us at the AUW Resource Fair, where we’re spotlighting our amazing partner agencies serving the residents of O’ahu’s Windward community! This is your chance to learn about the vital services available, and discover the missions driving these nonprofits. Let’s build a stronger, more connected community together!"
