An Ann Arbor woman, 26, was tragically killed earlier this week after being struck by two vehicles in Pittsfield Township. As reported by FOX 2 Detroit, the accident occurred on Carpenter Road, south of Packard Road, just before the dusk of 6:15 p.m. Police indicated that the woman was using the crosswalk but against the light at the time of the incident.
Despite cooperating with the investigators, both drivers in the accident stopped, as ClickOnDetroit reported. The pedestrian, encountered by a green signal, was struck by a southbound vehicle on Carpenter Road. While lying in the roadway, a second car compounded the tragedy by hitting her.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the local hospital, where she was transported after the accident. According to CBS News Detroit, investigators have ruled out speed and reckless driving as contributory factors to the fatal crash.
