The City of Arvada is making post-holiday clean-up easier and greener with its free Christmas tree recycling program for local residents. Offered annually at the Stenger Sports Complex, people can drop off their festive firs and pines at the southwest corner of the W 58th Ave. and Oak St. intersection, providing a convenient location for those looking to responsibly dispose of their holiday trees.

Running from Dec. 26, 2024, through Jan. 20, 2025, the recycling initiative operates daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To give back, the city has determined to make available mulch from the recycled trees free of charge at the same site where the collection is held. However, residents must be prepared to load and haul their mulch.

There are a few simple yet important guidelines for those participating in the program. According to the City of Arvada, Arvada residents must ensure that their trees are stripped of all nails, wire, and decorations before dropping them off to ensure the safety of City staff handling the trees. In addition, the city does not accept garlands, wreaths, or general yard waste, and business or commercial use is strictly prohibited.
