Fulton County Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman is inviting the community of the "Mighty District 6" to the 2025 Human Trafficking Forum for an important discussion on human trafficking. The event will take place on January 30, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Auburn Research Library's Auditorium, located at 101 Auburn Avenue NE in Atlanta, Georgia. The forum aims to increase public awareness of the issue, according to the Fulton County.
In honor of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Commissioner Abdur-Rahman will partner with Wellspring Living to host a panel discussion on raising awareness about human trafficking. The event will focus on recognizing trafficking signs, countermeasures, and supporting survivors. Commissioner Abdur-Rahman emphasized the issue, saying, "It is a criminal industry that strips individuals of their human dignity and rights, with human traffickers preying upon our most vulnerable citizens." She emphasized the urgency of the forum, noting that, "Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal activity in this country," as stated by the Fulton County.
Fulton County is dedicated to addressing human trafficking, providing $500,000 last year to Wellspring Living for recovery services for victims and those at risk. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to Georgia's 24-hour Human Trafficking Hotline at (866) 363-4842 for help, as reported by the Fulton County.
