In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Avondale will be shutting down its city facilities come Monday, January 20. According to an announcement from the city's official website, this closure encompasses various establishments including City Hall, the City Court, as well as both the Avondale Public Libraries and the Avondale Resource Center.
The pause in operations will also affect the Mountain View Community Center, the Visitor and Conference Center, and the administrative offices catering to Public Works and Public Safety. Residents should take note, however, that there will be, no pause in trash/solid waste or the bulk pick-up schedules despite the holiday.
Transportation services will likewise be operating on a limited basis: Valley Metro bus plans to run on a standard weekday agenda, a city release confirmed. Nevertheless, those who rely on more specific transit options should plan ahead—the RAPID/Express bus service along with the WeRIDE microtransit will not be in operation on that day.
With many relying on these services, the city hopes to minimize disruption by maintaining regular waste management services. For those planning on getting around by bus, it's advisable to check schedules or plan alternative transport as some routes will not be serviced that Monday.
