A "cautionary" boil water advisory is in effect for DeKalb County residents east of Moreland Avenue, west of Candler St/Clairemont Ave, south of Mason Mill, and north of Hosea Williams Dr. The advisory does not affect those on Atlanta’s water system. Boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food, according to the DeKalb County.
A water main break caused pressure to drop below 20 PSI, leading to a precautionary advisory. Residents may see brown water when service returns and should run their faucets to clear the pipes. DeKalb County will increase water testing in affected areas.
DeKalb County is offering bottled water at five fire stations and a RaceTrac for residents affected by the boil water advisory. Locations include Fire Station 1 at 1670 Clifton Rd. and Fire Station 20 at 2919 Warren Rd. For more information or to report issues, contact the Department of Watershed Management at [email protected] or 770-270-6243. The county is working to resolve the issue and will provide updates.
