Carla Fahey's tenure with Duncanville ISD is a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and her community. In 1984, when her oldest child entered kindergarten at Fairmeadows Elementary, Fahey played a multifaceted role in Duncanville schools. Over the past 37 years, she's been recognized as a volunteer, PTA leader, trustee, and educator. Her efforts have not only contributed to the district's growth but have also touched countless lives.
Despite stepping away from the board in 2001 to care for her mother, Fahey's impact persisted. She co-founded the Duncanville ISD Education Foundation, a move that would cement her legacy within the district. This foundation continues to support students and teachers. In an act of full-circle dedication, she resumed her position on the Board of Trustees in 2012, where she remains an active figure.
Fahey's deep roots in education and sports certainly informed her understanding of community and teamwork. Her commitment mirrors the values espoused by her husband, Bill, a former professional baseball player and coach. It is reflected in the career of her son, Scott Fahey, who has been leading the Duncanville High School baseball team as head coach for 18 years. Graduation, which she calls her favorite school event, represents the culmination of these values and efforts for Fahey. "I love the whole experience of a student," she stated, as per Duncanville ISD Police Department. "When I think about those little kids in kindergarten and then think about them walking across the stage to hand them a diploma, it makes my heart sing."
The Duncanville ISD community, acknowledging Fahey's decades of service, has shown great appreciation for her role in shaping the futures of many students. Her continuous presence in the district reflects a steadfast dedication to improving the lives of the young people she has served.
