Last night, a two-alarm fire broke out at a south Charlotte Harris Teeter, but no injuries were reported. According to WBTV, the fire erupted just before 9 p.m. at the store located in the Blakeney Town Center shopping center on Rea Road. Witnesses observed smoke billowing from multiple parts of the grocery store's roof.
The Charlotte Fire Department was swift in its response, with 60 firefighters arriving and controlling the blaze within 50 minutes, WCNC reports. Both customers and staff at the Harris Teeter location, along with the responding firefighters, were unharmed during the incident.
Further details about the fire's implications for the store operation, and the shopping center are currently under investigation. "Firefighters are reporting no injuries," QC News disclosed. And while the quick response likely minimized property damage, the full extent of the impact on the local business and its patrons remains to be seen.
Local authorities and Harris Teeter management are expected to release further details once the investigation is complete.
