Travel woes hit the City of Chester as PennDOT shuts down a key stretch of U.S. 13 (Morton Avenue), between 9th Street and 4th Street (Route 291), all thanks to a damaged building that's thrown a wrench in the usual hum of traffic. If you're looking to navigate through or around the city, you'll have to stick to the detours laid out: southbound travelers get rerouted via 9th Street, Avenue of the States, and Welsh Street, to Route 291, while those heading north will use 4th Street, jump over to Route 320, and finally back to 9th Street.
As reported by PennDOT, the road will remain closed until Chester addresses the unstable building and PennDOT confirms it's safe for commuters, delivery trucks, and pedestrians. Meanwhile, the disruptions are affecting highways across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. For a full list, check the District 6 Traffic Bulletin. Subscribing to PennDOT’s news for updates is also a smart way to stay informed.
