The Colorado Department of Revenue's taxation division is streamlining the way businesses handle their sales and use tax with major updates to its system. In what is being described as a significant enhancement, the department's latest changes to the Sales and Use Tax System (SUTS) promise to greatly reduce filing times and simplify the overall process for users. Bringing a bit more user-friendliness to the world of tax filing, these updates allow businesses to quickly determine tax jurisdictions and rates, directly enter or upload data, and add multiple locations within the system itself, as detailed by the Colorado Department of Revenue.
Brendon Reese, the Senior Director of the Taxation Division, was quoted saying, "The new improvements to SUTS make filing and remitting sales and use tax much easier," as per the Colorado Department of Revenue. He emphasized the system's speed, accuracy, and cost-free usage to Coloradans, aiming to quickly, accurately, and freely improve the tax filing services offered by the state. This new user-oriented approach is a fresh breath for businesses daunted by the traditionally complex tax filing procedures.
To acquaint businesses with the overhauled SUTS, Colorado's Department of Revenue is to host an informational webinar. The event is scheduled on January 30, from 1 to 3 p.m., with pre-registration required but free of charge. Those interested can sign up for the webinar on the department's website. The hope is that the webinar will further assist users in navigating the improved tax system.
