The Ohio State University campus was awash with jubilant scenes as students and fans alike braved the icy grip of unseasonably cold weather to celebrate a significant victory. The Buckeyes had just clenched a historic 34-23 win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to take home the College Football Playoff National Championship title.
According to ABC6, hundreds of fans converged at Ohio Stadium, not deterred by the single-digit temperatures, to honor their team's triumph. In a decade, this is the first national title the Buckeyes have earned, the previous one coming in against Oregon in 2015. Wrapped in scarves and pride, a fan told ABC6, "We're not crazy, we just love our Buckeyes."
As reported by NBC4i, the victory over Notre Dame swiftly overshadowed any disappointments in the earlier season, including their loss to Michigan. "We didn’t beat Michigan. Who cares? Who cares? We won the national championship," exclaimed one fervent Buckeye fan. The spontaneous celebrations saw some minor incidents, with police citing "damage was limited to some furniture and a trash can being burned in the Short North."
Meanwhile, the team’s official celebration is slated for January 26, an announcement made by Ohio State University. The celebration will mark the recognition of the Buckeyes' ninth college football title. Keeping up with the fast-paced digital age, the team's exuberance and the ensuing fanfare were documented and celebrated across various social media platforms.
