
Dallas residents can expect a mix of sunny skies and increasing clouds, with temperatures peaking in the low 60s today and a shift in wind direction in the afternoon, as reported by the National Weather Service. The forecast, indicating a high near 62 and a low around 48 tonight, also includes a southeast wind of around 5 mph that's set to grow denser as night falls. Moving into the weekend, cloud cover will increase with a 64-degree high on Saturday and southerly gusts potentially reaching 20 mph, according to the NWS forecast.
Further into the forecast period, Sunday promises sunny conditions with temperatures taking a notable drop by late afternoon, as the wind shifts from southwest to northwest resulting in gusts that could hit 35 mph, and taking a sharp turn Sunday night, the low is projected to plummet to about 24, residents are advised to brace for windy and chillier nights ahead with north northwest gusts maintaining their intensity. With the start of the new week, sunny skies will persist, yet the thermometer will barely climb near 40 degrees on Monday, and that evening, partly cloudy conditions will bring lows to the mid-20s.
Despite the sunny spells, the National Weather Service has also released a Hazardous Weather Outlook for North and Central Texas warning that severe wind chill values are expected Monday and Tuesday, with potential drops to the single digits, especially along the Red River.
In addition to the cold, the outlook advises precaution against patchy, potentially dense morning fog urging commuters to slow down and use their low-beam headlights if they encounter such conditions while driving the outlook doesn't call for spotter activation at this time, but it does suggest that area residents, especially those with outdoor plans, take heed of the predicted conditions and dress accordingly to stay warm.
