The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections is slated to hold a Special Called Meeting, discussing voter challenges tomorrow, at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, Georgia. According to the DeKalb County official announcement, the meeting will commence at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, and will include an in-person public comment period.
Those interested in voicing their opinions can attend the meeting or send a concise email, limited to one printed page with a minimum font size of 12. Emails must be sent to [email protected] and are required to be received between 35 and 5 minutes before the meeting begins. Contributors must include their first and last names in the body of their emails. The DeKalb County Board has issued a notice regarding the submission of these comments, which could be read in part, or added to the record during the meeting broadcast, at their discretion.
Public comments during the meeting will be restricted to a two-minute speaking window. As reported by DeKalb County, the board strictly prohibits any forms of disruptive behavior such as "Abusive, profane, or derogatory language, holding up signs, clapping, yelling, standing, or laying in the aisles." Participants wishing to demonstrate support or opposition, however, may do so by showing hands or standing quietly in place.
The DeKalb Board has set the protocol to ensure a systematic and respectful environment during the session. Any commenters agreeing to have their feedback included in the public record are also consenting to have their names and the content of their emails broadcasted on the UStream and entered into the official minutes. The DeKalb County board's advisory clearly states their reserved right to "add your email to the record/minutes without reading any of it into the broadcast or read all or a portion of your email into the record/minutes."
