The DeKalb County Police Department is poised to kick off the new year by engaging directly with the people it serves. Residents of DeKalb County will have the chance to voice their concerns, make inquiries, and gain insights as the department hosts a series of town hall talks throughout January, themed "A Wrap-up of 2024." Announced by the department, these gatherings are designed to reflect on the past year's challenges and triumphs and to set forth intentions for the year ahead, as reported by DeKalb County's official website.
Commencing on January 7, 2025, the first event will allow residents in the eastern part of the county to connect with their local officers at the Stonecrest Library from 6 to 8 p.m. Not just serving as a forum, the event promulgates the debut of the new Mobile Precinct, offering a tangible example of the police department's commitment to accessibility and community presence. Each session in the town hall series is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m., with additional dates set for various locations across the county.
Further town hall talks are slated to unfold at the Wesley Chapel Library to encompass the southern residents on January 15. Later, individuals in Tucker can engage with DKPD representatives at the Tucker Reid-Cofer Library on January 22. Concluding the series, the northern-central community is invited to gather at the Tobie Grant Recreation Center on January 29. These town halls represent a cornerstone of the department's ongoing effort to foster dialogue and trust between law enforcement and the communities they patrol.
