Residents of Detroit should brace themselves for a snowy end to the week, as it is forecasted that the Motor City is set to experience a bout of winter weather. According to the National Weather Service's latest bulletin, snow is expected to fall Friday afternoon with a 90% chance of precipitation, and an accumulation of around one inch is possible.
As the workweek draws to a close, commuters are advised to plan accordingly, as weather conditions may begin to degrade quickly. Snow is predicted to continue falling into Friday night, with an additional two inches expected to blanket the city before tapering off by 1 a.m. Despite the chill, the winds aren’t anticipated to be severe, with south-southwest gusts reaching up to 18 mph.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday should offer some respite from the flurries, with partly sunny skies and a high nearing 31 degrees. However, residents won't be able to put away their winter gear yet, as another round of snow might be on the horizon for Sunday night.
While the beginning of the next workweek might start overcast, forecasters predict cloud cover, with highs hovering in the low thirties, to persist through Monday. Those hoping for clearer skies might have to wait longer, as Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to remain mostly cloudy.
