According to the latest update from the National Weather Service, today's forecast includes a partly sunny sky with temperatures peaking near 37 degrees. Expect the south wind to pick up the pace, accelerating from 6 to 11 mph to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon, with possible gusts reaching as high as 28 mph.
Tonight, the city is set to experience a complete change in the skies, with temperatures holding steady around 34 degrees. As per the National Weather Service, "A chance of snow before 2am, then rain and snow between 2am and 3am, then rain after 3am." The south-southwest wind will range from 11 to 17 mph, with gusts reaching up to 31 mph. While snow accumulation is expected to be less than half an inch, the chance of precipitation stands at 100 percent.
The domino effect continues into the weekend with Saturday's temperature set to take a tumble by evening, forecasting to fall to around 26 degrees by 5 pm. The mix of rain and snow is anticipated to stop by noon, succeeded by a chance of snow between 11 am and noon. While the likelihood of precipitation remains high at 80%, new snow accumulation is again expected to be modest, under half an inch. The west-southwest wind will shift, taking a northwest direction in the morning, with manageable gusts around 20 mph.
As Sunday rolls in, so does a cloud cover, promising a high near 19 degrees. The west-northwest wind maintains a gentle presence, blowing at 6 to 8 mph. The temperature is slated to plunge further Sunday night, with a low around 1 degree, bringing a cold end to the day. And it doesn't stop there. Martin Luther King Day will greet locals with a partly sunny yet bitterly cold high of just 8 degrees. "Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 8," as stated by the NWS. The chilly streak is forecasted to continue into Tuesday with similar frigid temperatures. A slightly milder relief arrives by Thursday with temperatures forecasted to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 25.
