The incident took place on December 29th near Kendrick Castillo Way and Plaza Drive. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has released a description of the suspect vehicle and urges anyone with information to come forward.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle suspected of fleeing the scene is a 2015–2016 Dodge Durango, red or maroon, with silver wheels. Noteworthy, the front end of the vehicle likely sustained damage, and parts of the front bumper may be missing. Last seen, the vehicle was heading westbound on Plaza Drive towards Creekside Way. The origin of the vehicle is still undetermined, and whether it is local to the Highlands Ranch area remains a question.
