
A Monday afternoon collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Bessemer Street and Calderwood Street in Alcoa resulted in serious injuries for a 70-year-old Maryville man and minor injuries for a 20-year-old Alcoa woman, according to local authorities. The WVLT report mentions the man was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, while the Alcoa Police Department confirmed the woman received treatment at Blount Memorial Hospital.
After the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, the Alcoa Police Department, along with the fire department and emergency services, responded to a chaotic scene wherein one of the implicated cars had caught fire. "As a result of the crash, a 70-year-old Maryville man was transported to the University of Tennessee Hospital in serious condition," reported APD in a statement obtained by WBIR.
The ongoing investigation into the wreck seeks further details about the lead-up to the event and APD is urging anyone with relevant information to step forward, as emphasized by an Alcoa Police spokesperson who stated, "Anyone who may have information on the cause of the crash is asked to contact Alcoa Lieutenant Dustin Stevenson," attributing the request to WATE.
