After 45 years in Arlington, Massachusetts, Cambridge Typewriter Company will close on March 31. Owner Tom Furrier announced his retirement and the shop's closure in a social media post and an interview with CBS News.

Furrier started working on the shop floor at 25, eventually buying the company. He spent his career repairing and selling typewriters, working with about 35,000 machines. "It's what I love doing. I couldn't imagine doing anything else," he said. As the shop prepares to close, he’s still coming to terms with the decision, as reported by CBS News.

According to Cambridge Typewriter Co., Inc. on their Facebook page, the shop will close after a Going Out of Business Sale in March, which will include a type-in event and retirement party. The shop is no longer accepting new repair requests but will continue to sell typewriters until the last day. For inquiries, customers can call (1) 781-643-7010. Owner Tom Furrier shared, "My favorite thing is when I hear someone come through that door because I get to come out and I get to interact with someone who is excited to be here."
